THE PROGRAMS AT DESERT HILLS Located in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Youth and Family Centered Services of New Mexico, Inc. dba - Desert Hills provides a continuum of behavioral health services ranging from Sub-Acute Residential Treatment to Community Based Programs. The Residential Treatment Programs (RTC) are semi-secure with 24-hour supervision.  The program specialties include treatment for children, ages 5-11, who are severely emotionally disturbed; adolescents, ages 11-18, who are experiencing sexually maladaptive behaviors; adolescents who have a dual-diagnosis including substance abuse; and adolescents who are MR/DD. The Community-Based Programs include Behavior Management Services (BMS), Comprehensive Community Support Services (CCSS), Day Treatment, and an Out-Patient Medication Management Clinic. Familyworks, Inc. - a separate corporation - provides Treatment Foster Care for children and adolescents. DESERT HILLS' TREATMENT TEAM The program at Desert Hills is conducted by a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, specially trained in behavioral and mental health treatment. The treatment team is comprised of the program director, psychiatrist, milieu counselors,  nurses,  teachers, parents/guardians, and the client. Utilizing the wrap-around model, parents/guardians drive the treatment for their child. Treatment teams meet weekly on the more acute units and monthly on the less acute units. All natural and informal supports are encouraged to be a part of the treatment team and facilitate the therapeutic direction that is in the best interest of the child. Treatment team meetings discuss the progress or lack of progress the child is making as well as updating the treatment plan and the discharge plan. The psychiatrist updates everyone on the medications (if applicable), the nurse discusses any medical issues and the therapist updates everyone on individual and family therapy progress.     REFERRAL SERVICES Referrals can be made by: The Individual Family Members Mental Health Professionals Human Services Agencies Judicial & Law Enforcement Agencies School Counselors & Administration Health Care Providers Other Interested Individuals
